Our Story
We work across social care, education, health, domestic abuse services, policing and the voluntary sector, equipping professionals with the knowledge, tools and confidence to respond to the complexities of CPCA and ACPCA. Our aim is to improve practice, influence systems and ensure that families receive the support they need.
Silenced CIC was founded by Maria Duah, an experienced social worker, researcher and trainer with a passion for improving recognition of CPCA and ACPCA within professional practice. Alongside Co-Director Viji Rajagoplan, who brings more than 20 years of specialist experience in domestic abuse and CPCA services, Silenced combines research, practice expertise and lived experience to drive meaningful change. Together, they bring over four decades of experience across social care, education and domestic abuse services, united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, adults and families.
Our approach is holistic, systemic and person-centred. We recognise that every family is unique and that effective responses require an understanding of the individual, relational and wider contextual factors that contribute to harm. Through accredited and bespoke training, consultancy, assessments, research and online learning, we support organisations to build knowledge, strengthen practice and create safer, more resilient family systems.

Our Vision
For all professionals working with children, young people and families to have the knowledge, confidence and skills to recognise and respond effectively to CPCA and ACPCA . CPCA and ACPCA remains one of the most misunderstood and under-recognised forms of family abuse. Silenced was established to help change that.
Through training, research, consultancy and online learning, we work with professionals, organisations and families to improve understanding, strengthen practice and drive meaningful change. Our work is rooted in collaboration, evidence and lived experience, bringing together research, professional expertise and the voices of those affected to improve outcomes for children, young people, adults and families. Together, we are working to ensure that CPCA and ACPCA are recognised, understood and responded to with confidence, compassion and consistency.
